The 90-Year-Old Face of MAC

Meet The 90-Year-Old Face of MAC

It's no secret that Hollywood puts a premium on youth and beauty. While it's not hard to see why fresh faces like Emma Stone and Lily Collins are emulated around the world, isn't it unrealistic to stay a twenty-something forever? What woman really looks like Cindy Crawford or Jennifer Aniston in their 40s?
And isn't there something a bit more graceful in the way Meryl Streep has aged as opposed to say, Nicole Kidman?
The Today show featured a segment today on the recent changing attitudes towards aging and beauty led by the likes of Diane Keaton and Ellen DeGeneres, and featured none other than Iris Apfel, MAC's 90-year-old spokeswoman!
"We have had an insane love affair with youth," says Apfel, the legendary interior designer/fashion icon who's launched her own textile firm and worked at the White House for nine presidents. "Youth is beautiful and wonderful, but there's a lot more. Life doesn't stop when you're 30."
And clearly, MAC's gutsy move more than paid off -- their highly anticipated Iris Apfel collection, which included richly colored lipsticks as an homage to Iris's own signature bright red lip, sold out within days.
"I think it's pitiful that people lie about their age," Iris tells Today. "What's wrong with getting old? I think if you're lucky enough to get old, you should celebrate it."
Hmmm ... hope Demi Moore is listening.
