Fantasy Bra Costing $2.5 Million Unveiled By Victoria's Secret

It's that time of the year, ladies -- time to gawk and gape at a bra that costs $2.5 million and wonder just who is going to wear the darn thing.
Well, besides a Victoria's Secret Angel. The $2.5 million Fantasy Bra has become a Victoria's Secret institution, modeled by a select Angel each year in the closing moments of the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. This year Alessandra Ambrosio is doing the honors, so she was out and about today to unveil the jewel-encrusted piece on "Good Morning America" and a formal Victoria's Secret event.
So what does the bra look like this year? For 2012 there's a floral theme, with amethysts, sapphires, rubies and white, pink and yellow diamonds arranged in the shapes of flowers and green stems. There's 5,200 precious stones in total, including a giant diamond flower dangling from the center and a matching "belt" (let's call it a belly chain).
So not your average bra-and-panty set.
Ambrosio was selected to wear the bra after 11 years as an Angel and she follows in the footsteps of Karolina Kurkova, Heidi Klum, Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima and most recently Miranda Kerr.
And with that, here it is!

Ford Models Sues Women Management For Poaching Alana Zimmer & Karolina Waz

As one lawsuit ends, another begins: Ford Models and Women Management, two of the most respected modeling agencies, may be facing off in court. The New York Post reports that Ford Models has filed a $4 million suit against Women Management accusing them of poaching two of its models.
The models, Alana Zimmer and Karolina Waz, were supposedly pulled over to Women while in the midst of three-year contracts with Ford. Both Zimmer and Waz, each of whom have walked in New York, Milan and Paris, had been cultivated by Ford for years, the lawsuit states, and their poaching represents "repeated attempts to target and damage Ford's business."
"There are, upon information and belief, other models whom Women is seeking to seize from Ford," states the suit, filed in Manhattan Supreme Court. Ford is seeking damages of $2 million from Women Management and $1 million from each model, reports the New York Daily News.
This isn't the first accusation of poaching between Women Management and Ford -- except last time, the accusations went the other way. In 2010,Women sued Ford Models for allegedly stealing several of Women's top executives, claiming that "[Ford's] concerted recruiting efforts to date have led to the departures of eight of plaintiff's key employees."
Ford was also caught in several poaching lawsuits with modeling agency Next Management. In 2009 Ford sued Next Management for poaching up-and-comer Kendra Spears two years into her three-year contract. In 2010, Next turned around and sued Ford for stealing three of its models.
Guys, can't we all just get along?

Kirsty Thatcher, 13, Wins 'Dolly' Magazine Cover Contest 2012... But Is She Too Young To Model?

Dolly Magazine 2012
Here in America, the modeling industry is grappling with recently re-ignited issues surrounding the use of teenage models, from the controversial Marc Jacobs runways to Vogue's recent ban on using underage models in editorials.
But down under in Australia, the underage issue seems a little less prickly: Dollymagazine's cover girl search 2012 has plucked a 13-year-old to win its annual contest. Back after a 10-year hiatus, the model search awarded Kirsty Thatcher the grand prize: a modeling contract with Chadwick Model Management, a Dolly cover (pictured below) and the opportunity to serve as Dolly ambassador for a whole year.
"I always had a dream of becoming a model and I wanted to enter the Dolly model search because I know Miranda Kerr had won it and she's definitely someone whose footsteps I wanted to follow in," she told news.com.au.
In fact, Miranda Kerr, now a Victoria's Secret supermodel, nabbed the honor back in 1997 -- when she was 13 as well. Dolly promoted this year's search with a smiling image of Kerr against a banner reading, "This could be you!"
Not that an Angel-worthy face is the only requirement; the Dolly winner should have "a healthy outlook on life, a well-rounded personality and the ability to represent herself in front of a crowd," the contest states.
But still... is 13 too young to start dipping one's toe into the modeling industry pool? Mia Freedman, the mag's former editor, axed the contest back in 2002 due to concerns that it put too much emphasis on looks. As she told the website mamamia.com.au recently:
"I wanted the magazine to make a strong stand against the idea of valuing teenage girls purely for the way they look. Because no matter how you try to dress it up, the modelling industry is 100% based on external appearance, something few girls can ever change about themselves no matter how much they torture themselves. Girls who are able to model are a tiny tiny minority who were simply born with certain genetics."
Current Dolly editor Tiffany Dunk, however, says that the contest has shifted focus, placing more emphasis on confidence and talent as opposed to sheer beauty:
"We didn't ask about their hair colour or weight and we enlisted the help of The Butterfly Foundation [an eating disorder awareness foundation] when coming up with the guide for the competition," she said.

'Cruel Summer': Kanye West Debuts Ambitious Film At Cannes

      Cruel Summer Kanye West

Kanye West has eighteen Grammys, but on Wednesday night in Cannes, the rapper-designer-director placed his bets on seven screens. He debuted "Cruel Summer," a film-cum-art-instillation featuring Kid Cudi and Lebanese actress Razane Jammal, to a crowd of about 200.
The premiere was staged at a pop-up pyramid in a parking lot by the water. Viewers were surrounded by the screens, on which the story of a thief (Cudi) who falls in love with a blind Arab woman (Jammal) unfolded. The woman's father says that Cudi's character can only marry her if she cures her blindness. (Tall orders!) The film featured all new music, as GQ's Logan Hill confirmed:
Jay-Z was also present at the screening. Aziz Ansari, a friend of both rappers, has a small part in the film. West -- who is credited as the movie's writer, producer and director -- also has a minor acting role. The newly minted auteur chatted with girlfriend Kim Kardashian before the show, and the proud reality-TV star led a standing ovation at the premiere.

"You're always looking at a Blackberry when you're at a ballgame or the theater," West said by way of an explanation for the seven screens. "It's because of the amount of information we have at once."
The film was shot in Qatar, where the Doha Film Institute acted as cultural and creative advisors on the film. DONDA, the creative collective West started and named after his late mother, was also involved in the production

J. Crew Shoots Its Preppy Americana Catalog In Bali - Was this a Good Idea?

For its latest catalog -- er, "style guide" -- J. Crew decided to take its preppy Americana (and the preppy Americans who model it) on the road.
Perhaps feeling an "Eat, Pray, Love" moment coming on, the J. Crew crew headed to Bali, where it photographed the latest spring looks against a backdrop of ancient temples and the village of Ubud. The team also paired their spring models with local Balinese children, "our littlest local friends," wearing traditional religious dress on the steps of a thousand-year-old temple.
Are the children adorable? Totally. But some might find J. Crew's "Bali Adventure" slightly off-putting. As one Instagram user (who Instagram'd the new catalog cover) noted, "Come on, J. Crew. Accessorizing with brown kids is so 2010."
The sentiment echoes critiques of Donna Karan's recent ad campaign, which featured Adriana Lima modeling Donna Karan duds in the Haitian town of Jacmel with several local children huddled in the background.
The images alone sparked some Internet buzz ("Am I the only one getting racist/imperialistic vibes...?"), despite the fact that Karan is deeply involved with charity work in Haiti and intended to showcase a positive image. Similarly, it should be noted, the text alongside J. Crew's "Bali Adventure" photos includes informative details about Balinese tradition and positive musings about the culture and context of the shots.
Take a look at J. Crew's Spring 2012 "style guide," seen both online and in print, below. Does the Bali shoot strike you as misguided?

Lindsay Lohan Tanning Lawsuit

Star Accused Of Stiffing Company Out Of $40K

Lindsay Lohan has been accused of stiffing Tanning Vegas, a mobile airbrush tanning company, out of $40,000. According to TMZ, the star failed to pay for tanning sessions from 2007 through 2009, causing the company to sue her in early 2011.
Unsurprisingly, it seems LiLo was less than interested in paying for tans that faded long ago. On Monday TMZ reported that the Nevada-based tanning company is trying to move the case to California, where Lindsay -- and all her assets -- are located.
Ironically, Tanning Vegas is run by Lorit Simon, who is also the co-founder of Lohan's own self-tanning lineSevin NyneSevin Nyne was born in 2009... right around the time, it seems, Lohan stopped hitting up Tanning Vegas for professional airbrushing.
And, in case you were wondering, Sevin Nyne is still going strong... sort of. You can score a 5oz bottle of the brand's Tanning Mist at Sephora on sale, reduced from $35 to $17.
Which is a whole lot less than $40K

David Beckham Strips Down For Elle UK's First Ever Solo Male Cover

Try as we might to get back into the swing of things after our holiday weekend, we're a little distracted this morning. By our sunburns, sure, but mostly by the new David Beckham Elle UK cover.
Elle UK teased us with a preview video earlier this month -- where we first learned a swimming pool and a dripping wet Becks would be involved -- and finally, we have the real deal.
There are actually two different covers for the magazine's July 2012 issue: the one sent out to subscribers features the hunky soccer player shucking his shirt and stepping out of a pool in dark jeans and not much else. A tamer one, which will hit newsstands, features a more casual, t-shirted Becks.
We'll pore over the actual interview when we get the mag, but for now, we'll settle for this Becks quote: "How would I sum myself up? I don’t know, I prefer other people to do that... erm... a little bit shy."
While David's wife Victoria covered the magazine back in 2005, this is Elle UK's first ever solo male cover -- and we have to say, it's an excellent choice.
